Created in the 18th century, the chiffonier is a taller-than-wide piece of storage furniture with several drawers. At the time, it was found in bedrooms. It was used to store linen and rags. There are different types of chiffonier, such as the " meuble semainier". The latter is made up of seven drawers, one for each day of the week. In the twentieth century, the wooden chiffonier moved into the living room and became a practical storage unit for various objects and utensils.
